What kind of trip is this? This is an easy, self-guided cycling holiday in Provence. You will ride on small country roads and farming tracks. The itinerary is designed to avoid heavier traffic, but you will still share some roads with motor vehicles, especially when entering or leaving towns. Is this tour guided? No. This is a self-guided tour. You will ride independently, using the provided GPX tracks and documentation. What navigation material will we receive? You will receive GPX files and a digital travel kit by email, including the road book, GPX files, a day-by-day summary, and a welcome letter. Is there emergency assistance during the tour? Yes. Day 1: Avignon You will settle into Avignon and step straight into history. You will have time to visit the Roman monuments and the Palace of the Popes, letting the city’s grand stones set the tone for the days ahead. Day 2: Avignon – Tarascon (36 km) You will leave Avignon on small, quiet roads and ride toward Tarascon, passing through Boulbon and other picturesque villages. You will arrive in Tarascon, a charming town watched over by its royal fortified castle. Day 3: Tarascon – Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (20 km) You will cycle among open fields where bulls and horses graze, then finish the final kilometres on a cycling track into Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. You will reach one of the region’s most beautiful villages, known for the aromas of wild herbs—where Van Gogh lived and Nostradamus was born. Day 4: Les Baux – Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (15 km) You will ride out with time to soak up the Alpilles landscapes and, if you wish, visit the « Carrières de Lumières ». You will return to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and enjoy the evening wandering its romantic streets and small squares. Day 5: Saint-Rémy-de-Provence – Arles (32 km) You will cycle south toward the Mediterranean spirit of Arles, perched along the Rhône. You will discover a town rich in well-preserved monuments, from its amphitheatre to medieval and Roman treasures. Day 6: Arles – Avignon You will return by train to Avignon for your departure.
